Children who struggle with numeracy can often be supported in their learning by using specific strategies and apparatus to help them make connections with abstract concepts.
This course is an introduction to strategies teachers can use to help children have a sense of number and can apply their learning with confidence and enjoyment. They learn to develop conceptual understanding and strong visual images to help derive calculation strategies. The course will also look at the how the language and vocabulary of mathematics needs to be made explicit to ensure children’s mathematical understanding. Course suitable for: Any teacher or Teaching Assistant who is in KS1 & KS2. Course Costs: £80 for alliance members Course Costs: £100 for non-alliance members.
